Vittorio Manes Università degli Studi di Ferrara
Vittorio Manes is currently Full Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Bologna and criminal lawyer in Bologna. He has obtained in 2001 a Ph.D. in Criminal Law at the University of Trento. From 2010 to 2014 he has worked at the Resarch Services of the Constitutional Court.
He has been many times visiting researcher abroad in particular at the “Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Strafrecht, Freiburg im Br.” (in particular during the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 203) and at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (2010).
He is member of the scientific committee of the law-reviews “Diritto Penale Contemporaneo” and “L’indice Penale”.
He has published widely on topics of European criminal law and specifically on confiscation procedures. Also in his activity as a lawyer, he has represented an Italian company in front of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in a case concerning a peculiar form of non conviction based confiscation (G.I.E.M s.r.l v. Italy (no. 1828/06) , Hotel Promotion Bureau s.r.l. and Rita Sarda s.r.l. v. Italy (no. 34163/07) and Falgest s.r.l. and Gironda v. Italy (no. 19029/11), still pending).
